March used to be the first month of the year.  Great Britain and her colonies changed to the “New Style” or “Gregorian” calendar in 1752
and began celebrating it in January.

Like most months, March weather lore has many old sayings:

“When March comes in like a lion it goes out like a lamb.”

“A dry March and a wet May, Fill barns and bays with corn and hay.”

“As it rains in March, so it rains in June”

“March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers”

When the Anglo-Saxons converted to Christianity, they held their chief season of fasting at this time the month
'fast of lenet monet' which in time became 'Lent'.

Four U.S. Presidents. Andrew Jackson, James Madison, Grover Cleveland and John Tyler where born in this month.
