PDG Jan took on the Segway in Gettysburg at the District Conference. Even with titanium knees and other orthopedic problems the Segway provided a great way to tour the Battlefields in Gettysburg.

The most that I knew about segways was what Ihad seen on television (and for commercials for "Mall Cop").
Initiation took place in the parking lot where victims (customers) were introduced to their segways, each having its own name - mine was Handsome Joe.
My instructor tried to calm my nerves by asking me about my law practice. Our group was larger than usual and the challenge as we practiced was not running into another Rotarian. The staff decided it would be best to keep me in front (did the nine inch scars on my knees play a part in this?) but it turned out that once I got my balance and confidence I was born to SPEED.
Up and down hills and around curves, by the end of the 1.5 hour tour I was doing circles, speeding over bumps, and even taking one hand off the handlebars to take photos.
Great News! There will be segways at next year's district conference in Anapolis!
